When you get married, no one ever thinks about divorce. In fact, it is probably the furthest thing from anyone’s mind. Along the way things sometimes change between spouses or circumstances change. The fact of the matter is that there are stresses that occur in marriage which inevitably end in the parties seeking to dissolve the marriage. Of course this is much less complicated when there are no children or assets involved.
Most times a dissolution of marriage comes with issues of alimony, child custody, child support, equitable distribution of assets, and the list continues. Everything that the parties have done and every asset they have accumulated during the course of the marriage suddenly becomes part of a dissolution of marriage proceeding. Even under the most amicable of circumstances divorce can become an unpleasant experience. Of utmost importance is protecting your children and your assets.
