Edward Reyes, Esq., is the founder and managing attorney of The Reyes Firm. He’s known for his drive, focus, and relentless work ethic qualities shaped by real-life experience, not just textbooks or courtrooms.
Born in New Jersey to Cuban immigrant parents and raised in Florida, Edward learned early that nothing in life comes easy. If he wanted something, he had to work for it. He started earning money as a kid by mowing lawns and constantly looking for ways to get ahead.

He became a father while still in high school a life-changing moment that forced him to grow up quickly and stay focused on building a future. Together with his high school girlfriend, now his wife and fellow attorney, Maria Jesús Reyes they worked hard to create a stable life for their children and themselves.

At 17, Edward was involved in a serious car accident that opened his eyes to how frustrating and confusing the legal and insurance systems can be. He was injured and getting the runaround from the insurance company. The lawyer he hired barely spoke to him or explained anything. That experience stuck with him. In sharp contrast, the chiropractor who treated him took the time to explain each step of his recovery, and that left a lasting impression. Inspired by that experience, Edward earned his massage therapy license and even
considered chiropractic school. 

Rather than following a traditional path, Edward relied on his drive to chase his goals. He didn’t go straight to college. Instead, he found ways to earn and save, reselling items from garage sales and purchasing and reselling office furniture from closing businesses. Every dollar he saved brought him one step closer to his dream. By 21, he opened his own personal injury clinic. Despite his age and nontraditional background, he proved the doubters wrong. Over the years, the clinic helped thousands of clients, and Edward
built a solid reputation in the personal injury space long before becoming an attorney.

As the clinic grew, so did his responsibilities. He found himself running operations, managing staff, and handling marketing, leaving less time for direct client interaction. That’s when his wife suggested law school. At 31, with only a high school diploma and several professional licenses, including massage therapy, real estate broker, mortgage broker, and life insurance, Edward decided to start college from the ground up. He enrolled in community college, transferred to a university, studied for the LSAT, and eventually made his way to law school. All while working full time and raising two children. It wasn’t easy, but quitting was never an option.

Edward continues to challenge himself professionally. He completed the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative and actively participates in organizations like the Florida Justice Association, the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, and the Minority Business Accelerator with the Tampa Bay Chamber, staying sharp and ready to bring the best to his clients.
