The County I-4 Runs Through
We File in the Tenth Circuit at Bartow
Polk sits in Florida’s Tenth Judicial Circuit, with the courthouse in Bartow. Its own bench, its own scheduling, its own local practice. Knowing that matters when a case does not settle.
I-4 Is a Freight Corridor, Not Just a Highway
The stretch between Tampa and Orlando carries distribution traffic all day, and Lakeland and Davenport sit right on it. A crash with a commercial truck brings carriers, their insurers, and evidence that starts disappearing immediately.
Two Decades With Injury Victims
Attorney Edward J. Reyes has spent more than 20 years around injury claims, including years running a clinic that treated accident patients before he practiced law.
No Fee Unless We Win
Consultations are free and we work on a contingency fee, so there is no attorney fee unless we recover compensation for you.

What Happens After You Call
Free case review
You tell us what happened. We ask about the crash, your injuries, and the treatment so far, then give you a straight read on whether you have a claim.
Evidence and investigation
We request the crash report, send preservation letters where a commercial vehicle is involved, chase camera footage before it cycles out, and find every policy that may apply.
Medical documentation
We coordinate with your treating providers so the record reflects the full injury, including the care you will still need later.
Demand and negotiation
Once treatment stabilizes, we prepare a demand package setting out liability and damages. Most claims resolve at this stage.
Litigation if needed
If the insurer will not deal fairly, we file in the Tenth Judicial Circuit at Bartow and keep going. You are told what is happening at every step.
Polk County Injury Questions, Answered
How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Polk County?
Two years from the date of the injury for most negligence claims in Florida. The deadline was shortened from four years to two on March 24, 2023 under HB 837. Claims against a city, the county, or another government body carry their own shorter notice requirements.
Where would my case be filed?
Polk County is in Florida’s Tenth Judicial Circuit, with the courthouse in Bartow. Most claims settle without a filing, but if suit becomes necessary that is where it goes.
I was hit by a commercial truck on I-4. Is that different from a car crash?
Yes, in two ways. There are usually more parties: the driver, the carrier, sometimes a broker or the company that loaded the trailer. And the evidence is different. Engine data, driver hour logs, dashcam and dispatch records all sit with the carrier and cycle out on their own schedules, which is why preservation letters go out early.
What if I was partly at fault for the accident?
Florida uses modified comparative fault. Your recovery is reduced by your share of responsibility, and if you are found more than 50% at fault you recover nothing. Insurers often argue for a bigger share of blame than the evidence supports.
How much is my case worth?
It depends on your injuries, the treatment you need, the income you lose, the coverage available, and how the crash happened. Anyone quoting a figure before reviewing the medical picture is guessing. We will tell you what we can see from the facts.
Your office is in Tampa. Does that matter for a Polk case?
No. We take cases across Central Florida and file in Polk when a case calls for it. We can start by phone or video, and we come to you, including at the hospital or at home, when travelling is the hard part.
